This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use Kinora. Host this page at a public HTTPS URL for Google Play and App Store listings.
This document reflects how the product works today. It is not legal advice.
Kinora (“Kinora — Stay Close”) is a relationship-care app. You add people you care about, set reminders to reach out, log calls and messages, keep notes and important dates, share family circles, and (on Premium) use AI-assisted suggestions and chat.
The app syncs your data to our cloud backend so you can sign in from your devices. There is also a web client for some features.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Contacts | So you can pick people from your phone book to add as Kinora contacts. We do not upload your entire address book elsewhere without you choosing contacts to import. |
| Photos / media | So you can set an avatar or add album photos. |
| Location (when in use) | Only if you tap a “use my location” style action to find nearby contacts — not continuous tracking. |
| Notifications | Local / push reminders so you remember to reach out. |
| Calendar | If you export dates to your device calendar. |
| SMS / WhatsApp / email (via system apps) | Opens the native app to send a message you chose; we do not send SMS from our servers. |
Optional AI features (Assistant chat, conversation ideas, message drafts, and Quick Log) send selected text through Kinora’s servers to OpenAI so we can generate suggestions or parse what you typed.
What may be sent: messages you type to the assistant; contact names and relationship details; notes, memories, and life events you saved; recent interaction context; and Quick Log text you enter.
Permission: the app asks for your permission in-app before any AI feature shares this data with OpenAI. You can decline and keep using Kinora without AI features.
Data sent for AI is used only to power the feature you requested — not for advertising.
We confirm that OpenAI provides the same or equal protection of user data as described in this privacy policy and as required by Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. Do not put secrets you would not trust a cloud AI with into those prompts.
Paid plans are sold through Google Play and/or the Apple App Store (and may be validated via RevenueCat). We receive entitlements (e.g. Free vs Premium) and related purchase metadata. Card numbers are handled by Apple / Google, not by us.
We may collect app version, device type / OS, crash or error logs, and coarse diagnostics needed to keep the service reliable and secure.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your relationship notes or photos to show you third-party ads.
We share data only with:
People you invite to a Family Circle can see content shared in that circle according to how the feature works.
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or irreversibly anonymize personal data as described on our account deletion page, subject to short-lived backups and legal requirements.
We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, hashed passwords, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Kinora is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not create an account for a child below that age.
Full account deletion: Delete account
Servers may be located outside your country. By using Kinora you understand your data may be processed in those locations with appropriate safeguards where required.
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
